It is our goal at the Tennessee Housing
Protection Agency that every Tennessean
realizes and experiences the American
Dream of homeownership for years to
come.
THPA was created to do just that
and will be accomplishing this with
the help of our communities. It is
estimated over 2.2 million Americans
over the next year will lose their
homes due to sub prime mortgages.
Memphis has 26% of the nations total
with homeowners having sub prime mortgages,
with the sudden meltdown in the housing
market recently this will leave many
homeowners with no where to turn when
its time to refinance forcing many
homeowners into foreclosure. This
statement does not even take into
account the alarming number of foreclosures
that have already occurred in the
City of Memphis.
With the help of our churches, community
leaders, City and County government,
corporations and small businesses
we have created the Neighbors Helping
Neighbors program.This program is designed for all homeowners regardless of race, sex, age, or creed that all homeowners are given every opportunity as a fellow neighbor to enjoy homeownership for years to come by being offered the services and education needed to avoid the loss of their home due to foreclosure. Our agency will also provide
counseling to all homeowners to provide
them with the knowledge needed to
make sound decisions when purchasing
and refinancing their homes.
